![]() ![]() When it comes to the components and crossovers, it's not too bad. (can't remember what they're called, but that's what I went with) you can easily build one out of mdf or plastic cutting boards or buy premade ones as occasionally advertised in the banner ad at the top of the site. 6.5's are a great upgrade, but you'll need a 5x7 to 6.5 adapter bracket. (Heated seats being one)Īnyway, what your audio shop is saying sounds good. I'd do that, but with the factory nav too much stuff is integrated and not controllable in an aftermarket head unit yet. A head unit might be a consideration in lieu of a cleansweep since you got the base system. I think the general amp system is similar, though. When it came to the Raptor it was either none of the options or all of the options, so I ended getting the (sarcasm on) lovely nav system. ![]() I'm not as knowledgeable about the base system. I'm using a Rockford fosgate 363.3, which does the same and more than the cleansweep/SSI combo in a single unit. (Note, there are other options than cleansweep/SSI to achieve this. The upside is you will be able to use a component set of speakers with the passive crossovers saving you two amp channels. You then need to run from the cleansweep to an aftermarket amp as you will now be dealing with an unamplified low level signal. This is then passed to the cleansweep which applies equalization to remove all DSP from the factory unit. This will recombine all the varied frequency range speaker signals into a single full range signal. First you need to run all speaker wires from the factory amp to a summing device (JL SSI for example). You will also need 8 separate amp channels for this if you plan to upgrade all speakers and sub (I'm leaving my center channel dash speaker hooked up to the factory amp). One, you can run the wires for each speaker out of the factory amp to an aftermarket amp capable of excepting high level inputs. This leaves you two options for upgrading the amps/sound/etc. The way the factory unit works is all processing and crossovers are handled in the factory amp and then each speaker is supplied it's own separate signal. ![]() The cleansweep is fine, but you'll also want a summing device and amps otherwise there really isn't any point in the cleansweep. I've been doing a fair amount of research (and should be installing later this week) on this system for my 2013 Raptor. Do you have the Sony nav/my ford touch unit? ![]()
